Ivanhoe Broadcast News Wins Two Telly Awards
ORLANDO, FLA. (July 10, 2006) -- The winners of the 27th Annual Telly Awards have been announced, and Ivanhoe Broadcast News, the nation's leading independent producer of medical news, is proud that two of its producers, Marsha Hitchcock and Julie Marks, each won a Telly. With record entries climbing over 13,000 from around the world, this year has been the most competitive and successful in the history of these awards.
The Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. Marsha's series, Fighting Back and Julie's series, Alpha Male: The Dangerous Quest were entered in the News or News Feature category. They will each receive a Telly statuette designed by the same firm that makes the Oscar and Emmy.
Julie Marks, Supervising Producer of Medical News, says, "This is a great accomplishment for Ivanhoe -- a news organization committed to producing life-changing reports. I feel honored to be recognized with such a prestigious award."
An impressive judging panel of 27 accomplished industry professionals evaluates entries to recognize distinction in creative work. Entries are judged against a high standard of merit.
"It is a remarkable achievement and honor for an Ivanhoe producer to be recognized from such an outstanding pool of entries," says Marjorie Bekaert Thomas, Ivanhoe CEO. Marsha Hitchcock, Managing Editor/News, says, "It's exciting to know our stories are being recognized as some of the best on a national level. In no way do I think of this as my award because I truly believe we all work together to make each story better. However, winning this Telly has personally motivated me to work harder to produce even better stories!"
Ivanhoe Broadcast News is among the few news organizations that can proudly claim they won a Telly in 2006! Previous award winners include KTLA-TV in Los Angeles for "The Real Horse Whisperer", WFOR-TV in Miami for "Living Beyond Breast Cancer", and Banyan Productions for Discovery Health's "Twins by Surrogacy".
