What is Ivanhoe Broadcast News?

Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, Ivanhoe Broadcast News is the country's largest television news-gathering organization covering medical breakthroughs, family health and consumer news for women.

From its beginning in 1982, Ivanhoe has earned its reputation for providing TV stations with creative, top-quality and thought-provoking news stories that offer viewers solutions: latest breakthroughs in medicine, tips on staying healthy, and advice from women to women.

Over the past 30 years Ivanhoe has had a client base of more than 250 network affiliates in the United States, reaching 80 million television households.

Where does Ivanhoe get its story ideas?

Our research staff reads hundreds of medical journals each month, makes and receives hundreds of calls to medical professionals around the world, and attends medical and science conferences.

Who produces Ivanhoe's stories?

We have a network of 70 freelance producers, photographers and crew members around the United States who cover stories once they are assigned from headquarters. All stories are edited, approved and finalized in Orlando.

Are Ivanhoe's stories peer-reviewed?

No. We are a news service with more than 30 years of medical reporting experience. We do rely on a cadre of medical doctors we call upon from time to time to confirm the significance and validity of a story.

How does Ivanhoe decide on an early study that has not been peer-reviewed yet?

When researching any story, Ivanhoe's news department takes into consideration the medical center where the studies are being conducted as well as the background of the doctors leading the study. Each story is approved based on these factors as well as the impact the research may have and the disease it is targeted for. There are some diseases that breakthroughs rarely come, and patients are eager for an update on what is being studied.

Who pays Ivanhoe?

No one affiliated with our stories -- doctors, patients, medical institutions, etc. -- pays Ivanhoe. Ivanhoe is an independent company with no pharmaceutical ties and is privately owned. Ivanhoe is supported by the television stations that subscribe to its service and the companies that advertise on its Web site.

Where does the video on Ivanhoe's Web site come from?

The video streams are the actual news reports produced by Ivanhoe formatted for online viewing. These reports can be seen on television stations across the country on more than 100 network affiliates. To find out where Medical Breakthroughs airs, visit Our TV Partners page.

How often does the content on Ivanhoe's Web site change?

Each week day. Our Medical Headlines are updated Monday, Wednesday and Friday, which include the full-length streaming video. Our News Flashes are updated daily, Monday through Friday.
